Sharmian White has over twenty years of experience practicing law in the private and public sectors.  Her practice is focused on trademark clearance, prosecution, licensing and litigation; copyright registration, infringement, and licensing; and internet domain name disputes.  She is experienced in all aspects of trademark and copyright enforcement, from cease and desist and DMCA takedowns to injunctions, seizure of counterfeit goods, and infringement litigation.  She has obtained numerous favorable judicial rulings and has negotiated countless settlements of infringement matters.  She has significant experience with enforcement against internet entities and discovery of evidence from internet service providers.

Prior to starting an IP law practice (first serving as of counsel with the law firms of McLeod, Watkinson & Miller (2013-2016) and The Curry Law Firm, PLLC (2016-2017), both in Washington, D.C.), Ms. White spent several years as an Attorney-Advisor and later Assistant General Counsel (SES) with the United States Department of Agriculture’s Office of the General Counsel, focusing on environmental enforcement and natural resource management and restoration issues. She graduated from a federal Senior Executive Service (SES) Candidate Development Program and earned a certificate in executive leadership from Georgetown University.

Ms. White is also committed to providing pro bono legal representation to those in need as often as possible.  She has provided such services with respect to Constitutional and civil rights matters, particularly unlawful search and seizure, equal protection, race discrimination, and HIV/AIDS status-based discrimination.  She also volunteers with the Veterans Consortium Pro Bono Program and with Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts (WALA).
